Steele, WHISTLING VIVALDI: HOW STEREOTYPES AFFECT US AND WHAT WE CAN DO (New York: Norton, 2012) and Jeff Hobbs, THE SHORT AND TRAGIC LIFE OF ROBERT PEACE: A BRILLIANT YOUNG MAN WHO LEFT NEWARK FOR THE IVY LEAGUE (New York: Scribner, 2014). They promise to be as compelling as the three books I mentioned a few hours ago. This has been one hell of a birthday! Thanks to Kurt Jung, Jeannine Jung Singleton, Audrey Reynolds, Thomas Wee and Siobhan Wee I am having a wonderful festival of reading. Thanks to Rose McCrudden-Welch and Meg Welch I have a great new hat which drew many compliments as I went about town today.
