It simply chiefly aims at a comfortable sound-making with a marimba, Jambe, a bell, and various musical instruments such as conga, etc. The band was formed by Sawaguchi in 2003 in Tokyo. At this time, they provided Midnight Locker songs from album “omu-tone,” released in 2004. The album has been sold in CD-R more than 1000 copies independently, and in fall this year the album also will be remastered by Makoto Oshiro, who has been working for Tennis Coats, and various other independent artists, and released. Their simple and minimal but atmospheric euphoric sounds are loved by various fan base from teenagers to family with small children. 3 songs from album “omu-tone” ------------- Part 2: dj sniff Japanese Turntablist living in Hong Kong. Takuro Mizuta Lippit (aka dj sniff) is a musician, curator and producer in the field of experimental electronic arts and improvised music. His musical work builds upon a distinct practice that combines DJing, instrument design and free improvisation. He is interested in how a mediated musical memory, from archival collections of vinyl records to digitally captured sound events during a performance, can be used to create a new sonic reality that emerges through the fleeting notion of the now. This pursuit has led him to create customized instruments that allow him to intuitively access and re-play these different temporalities ingrained in our listening consciousness. His live performances range from carefully constructed solo sets to improvisational groups with virtuosic instrumentalists. He provided Midnight Locker his works sampling only “JAPANESE FREE JAZZ” at this time. See bio @ djsniff/bio.html djsniff/ 4 songs from album “dj sniff, cut doubt music down/incredulous cuts - reinterpretations of doubtmusic catalogue』 which is a concept album utilizing sampling and overdubbing, from Japanese Independent Label “doubt music.” “doubt music” is a label that has Yoshihide Otomo, Akira Sakata, and many other top improvisers/free jazz player/experimental artists in Japan. This album is very repetitive in breakdown and construct of the samples but at the same time out of the usual use of the samples, and which resulted in being highly accepted not only music fan but also musicians/artist. ------------- Part 3: Shimetta Inu (Wet Dog) shimettainu/ Shimettainu is Feedback duo consists of abt & Taichi Hurudate in Sapporo. They play distorted rhythm by feedback of analogue mixing board’s internal rhythm-machine, glitchy tone by touching audio cable directly. Their sound is rough and wild like their roots noise/techno. They are enjoying strange, wild, and occasionally funny sound which came from unstable/uncontrollable phenomenon “feedback”. 4 songs from album “strol” ------------- Part 4: TEASI teasi.net/ TEASI is a Nagoya based Japanese band currently formed by IPPEI MATSUI (Vocal&Guitar), KATSUO KAMEYAMA (Drums), AKIKO YAMAGUCHI (Piano) and Eiji Mitomi (Bass), (who introduced his music for Vol.1 at Midnight Locker!). Released two albums on UMMO Records (1st album, NINGENNO HADAKA) in 2004 , COMPARE NOTES Records (2nd album, KABESHINBUN) in 2006 and a live recording single on ENBAN (limited 100 pieces, non-titled) in 2004. The determination of TEASI is to try packing some invisible and untouchable materials in songs such as members personality, atmosphere during playing and flageolet tones which are all blended with music, and moreover, making songs simple, natural and timeless by not using much effects, eccentric phrases and complicated techniques. That inspiration makes to sound like no band else in the world. Now they are, slowly but also intensively, spending all the time in a studio to work on new songs for the third album. Band ensemble of beautiful singing and space between notes. Their live recording from May/2010 is also available for free at their website (teasi.net) 4 songs from album “Unreleased Live Tracks” -------------------------------------------------------------- Tetsuro Yasunaga jimushitsu/ minamo 12k/index.php/site/artists/minamo/ ART.FM artxfm midnight locker facebook/midnightlocker --------------------------------------------------------------
