As far as moose permits go there were a total of around 2,000 moose tags sold in Wyoming which doesnt include Idaho and Montana. Plus there are many moose hunting zones all surrounding Yellowstone. You still did not answer my question that if moose populations are suffering then why is the hunting of them still allowed? Elk Recruitment has to do with elk calf survival rate and their survival rate varies in each area with different factors. The wolf pup survival rate is around 50% so basically only half of the wolf pups survive to 2 years of age. Here we go with the elk again. So wolves wiped out 87% of the elk population huh? Then why is there are half a million elk in The Northern Rockies? Plus just like the moose if elk populations are suffering then why are thousands of elk hunting tags still being sold?
