Now for my tip for the new guys to riding...today I notice many of you had only one bottle of water with you - naughty naughty. Ok you will need some form of fuel if you are going to be an endurance athlete. I use a method based on 1g of carbohydrate per kg of bodyweight per hour for riding any longer than 2 hours in duration. (this is a genral guide and a place to start) E.G. today over 3h39minutes I consumed the below - 3 x one square meal bars (one each hour) - 3 GU gels (one each hour) - 1 x 750ml bottle of gatorade (sipping every 15mins) - 1 x bottle of water (sipping every 15mins) Please come prepared next Saturday based on the time you wish to ride for.
