Now granted theres not an attractive picture or cover image to accompany this post but this account of Tom Creans life by Souting Ireland is littered with some wonderful illustrations and for those who dont know the Story of Tom Crean, its an accurate summary. Tom was actually born on 25th February 1877 and the more prevalently documented birth date of July 20th is an inaccuracy that was only recently discovered by genealogist, Kay Caball of My Kerry Ancestors. This account contains the three documented occassions that Tom Crean put his own ife at risk to save others (28 of his colleagues in total) and who knows? there may be many more but one things for sure - after reading it consider this: this great Irish Heros memory is served only by a statue in his home village of Annascaul.
