Now i am far from an expert and dont confess to be one, but from what Ive learnt this is what i like to see. You wouldnt guess this motor has seen some miles would you. Carby spacers are a tuning aid, not for looks, you know you have your tune right (height) when your plenum looks like this even after 10s of thousands of miles. Nice even colour, dry after a recent run yesterday and not excessive black carbon. If you are getting fuel drop out, the bottom of an alloy manifold is usually quite stained with the fuel colour and spotlessly clean at the points of drop out / impact.
