Now that Ann Florence (an honors language arts teacher from Wasatch School District) has been fired because she stood against Common Core, I now suppose that ALL teachers and administrators that claim to be in favor of Common Core are just doing so to save their jobs. I can no longer listen to their claims that Common Core (Utah Core) is benign with any hope of believing that what they say is true! They have to lie (and try to believe the lies) to keep their jobs! How terrible that the government has taken hostage of these great minds! Has there ever been a time where teachers were punished for watching out for the welfare of their students? Now they are force to teach a curriculum that isnt working, forced to use up weeks and weeks of valuable teaching time for testing, forced to have their pay dependent on the outcome of the tests. Now they are forced to like it! I hope all of my friends see what how terrible this situation is and opt your child out of testing, call your government reps, and educate yourselves! These teachers and students that you love are being held captive by a system that doesnt work and that refuses to listen to those with experience! WE HAVE TO TAKE A STAND FOR THEIR SAKES!
