Now that I am a little more calm I will tell you what happened - TopicsExpress

Now that I am a little more calm I will tell you what happened today at the fair and forgive me if I offend anyone but it is my personal observation. Today was festival day at the fair, this morning i thought it would be fun! At the gate first thing, they barred my entrance, saying that there was only one entrance into the fair today, no vendor only access. No return to your car and the gate is locked behind you, i noticed all the additional security and limited access all the way around the park. I asked what was going on and they told me to keep moving. Then the festival started, it was the last time i heard english. My booth theoretically dissapeared, as well as all the other booths that had white owners. I should have taken video just to convince myself that it really happened, the Mexican booths were 20 deep with customers and the white booths stood empty, i could not believe it. I remember thinking omg! It is the Mexicans that are racist! Not the americans! Again, i wish I had taken video! I was told by a board member that the festival that day was not even a garfield county fair event. It was subcontracted by a Mexican entertainment company (now them charging at the door makes sense when they have not charged at the door all week) And seriously since the doors opened until I walked out at 4:00 I had one sale, to a white woman who was campaigning with her husband who even said that he came on the wrong day. I was told that if I pulled put early I would be fined $500.00. I refuse to sit in my booth, invisible, in AMERICA, not recognizing a single word spoken around me. I feel that i should have had an option to pull out early, i feel the fair board should know the culture involved on the last day and let them have their day, and perhaps invite other Mexican vendors for that day. I dont know. But I do know that the fair coordinator will get a call from me Monday. And I also know why hispanic people walk into my shop and then turn right around and walk out! They would rather do business with other hispanics! Duly noted. I never thought I would say white people. I never thought I would see different cultures. I love all people! Then I disappeared at a festival, with all the other white folks I am sad! I am shocked! Am I still in America?
