Now that I have seen Frozen about thirty times (I still enjoy it), - TopicsExpress

Now that I have seen Frozen about thirty times (I still enjoy it), I feel my inner writer/teacher coming back and thinking of ways I would improve the script. Its a gorgeous movie, with incredible music and animation, and I do love it. That said... There is no exposition. We never find out why Kristoff is orphaned or how he meets Sven the reindeer, for example. Or when Anna meets Kristoff and asks him to help her, there are no introductions. We know Kristoff recognizes Anna because he saw her as a child in the troll grounds, but she would not know him because she was unconscious at the time. One would think she would at least ask his name. I compare it with Tangled (my favorite newer Disney film): when Rapunzel meets Flynn Rider, they establish their relationship and further the plot in a five-minute scene where she lays out her plan to escape the tower and he explains he is a thief on the run. It works, and you connect to the characters. Stuff like that is missing from Frozen. Yes, I am a colossal nerd for writing this, but maybe by sharing I become less dorky? Would love to know your thoughts!
