Now that Ive purchased my plane ticket its official: on Thursday September 4 I depart for a new job running a cocktail bar in Cyprus...in the Mediterranean. It is certainly a bittersweet endeavor, because while I look forward to the opportunity to create the next chapter of my life, it also means saying goodbye to a part of my life that I hadnt planned on bidding farewell to so soon. But such is life, and one of the greatest lessons Ive learned over 37 years is that we are in control of very little that happens to us, and the wisest and most content of us are masters of reading the signs in the road and responding accordingly. I believe the signs are pointing me to Europe. For once in my life I dont feel any fear or trepidation, but rather excitement, and maybe a touch of nervousness. Maybe Im in denial, or maybe Ive reached a point of inner confidence that I welcome the challenge. For once in my life I know Im really good at something. But who knows, only time will tell. What I do know for certain is that from now until then, I would love nothing more than to see all of your beautiful smiles and faces at least once, if not multiple times before I leave, as it has undoubtedly been your presence in my life thats lead me in one way or another to this precise moment. NYC I arrive just after midnight that Thurs and have an overnight layover departing to Moscow on Friday evening. I would like to cram your faces and smiles into that short time slot to the fullest extent possible, so tell me where youll be or where I should be and Ill do my best to get to you. Going away party invitations coming forthwith. Lets do this!
