Now that Russia has gotten what she wants in Ukraine in the form of the Crimea region, she can now be happy that she has access to the Black Sea, a priviledge she had lost when Ukraine announced her independence from the Soviet Union. Russia had always eyed this very important trading route and there is no doubt she manouvred a long time ago by populating this area with Russian speaking pple so as to call for a referendum at a later date. And the date arrived on 16 March 2014. That was very strategic indeed.
