Now that its all over, Id like to take a step back and think about the 2013 Delta XC season. It may have been a lot of work waking up early, staying late at the school, & devoting so much time to the kids, but it was worth it. I am so proud of what these kids accomplished this year. Every single athlete made huge strides and not only improved as a runner, but became a quality person as well. They learned what it meant to dig deep and push through the pain. They learned what it meant to support their teammates through thick and thin. They learned that its not always about winning and losing, but giving your best day in and day out. I just want to say thank you to these kids for making my first year of coaching such a fun and successful experience. I want to say thank you to those such as Ron Martin, Tim Atkinson, & Jim Winseman who have given me advice throughout the year. Thank you to my assistant coaches Eric Lutton, Nick Thomas, and Kasey Chapman for helping out the last three months and putting up with my shenanigans. I also want to thank the Delta parents who provided team meals and food for the meets. This is only year one and I know that bigger things are yet to come for Delta XC!
