Now that my two Oran Mor shows later this month are sold out I am pleased to announce a little pub show Im doing in Glasgow at Bowlers Bar on the 14th of August. As some or all of you know I am an enormous devotee of Withered Hand and am honoured to be asked to open for him/them at what will surely be a great night in a unique venue. If youre not familiar with the Hands stuff, I heartily recommend both albums, Good News and the latest, New Gods (which is a masterpiece). These are records of astounding lyrical and melodic invention (and originality) firmly rooted in what I would call the Scottish indie style. All sung by the writer, Dan Wilson, in an exquisite and unusual voice somewhere between old Neil Young and young Carole King. I find a lot of his stuff insanely catchy. I strongly urge you to check him out and pop along to see us on a little bill together in a convivial and unusual setting.
