Now that the government shutdown has gone into effect, certain facilities and services on our base will be impacted. The facilities and functions run by non-appropriated funds will continue as normal. For other facilities and services, the lists below show which will remain open during the shutdown, and which will be impacted to some degree. The following facilities on RAF Mildenhall will remain open despite the government shutdown: - AAFES facilities (to include the gas station) - Arts & Crafts Center - Auto Hobby Shop - Bob Hope Community Center - Bowling Alley - Child Development Centers - Commissary - Dental Clinic - Fitness Centers - Galaxy Club - Gateway Dining Facility - Hardstand Café - Information, Tickets and Travel office - Library - Lodging - Military Personnel Section - Passenger Terminal - Teen Center - Youth Center The following facilities on RAF Lakenheath also remain open during the government shutdown: - The 48th Medical Group will not see any changes for services scheduled through Oct. 18. (The only exception is elective surgeries and procedures will not be performed.) - Private sector care under TRICARE will continue, as will inpatient, acute and emergency outpatient care in medical/dental treatment facilities. - DoDEA schools (located on RAF Lakenheath and RAF Feltwell) and their extracurricular activities The following facilities on RAF Mildenhall will be impacted by the government shutdown: - Airman & Family Readiness Center will provide assistance by appointment only. (The A&FRC will not provide walk-in services.) - The Civilian Personnel Office will provide assistance by appointment only. (The CPO will not provide walk-in services.) - The Education Center will not offer education counseling or voluntary education testing services. - Outdoor Recreation will have reduced hours and programs.
