Now that the inauguration is over and that we threw one big party even against the backdrop of a slumping economy, I remain optimistic for the future. Even when the regime threatens to pull down companies in the name of indeginisation and trounce all hopes of regaining our lost status in Africa, I shall not move from my position of wishing our dear country only the best. At home my face grows pale as the darkness of the night crouches into homes when our electricity turns off and the trickling sound of water gushing from the taps is replaced with deafening silence that goes on for weeks if not months. Nevertheless the government is relentless in its unstaggering manner to have bill debts scrapped. I doubt only one thing, and that is whether the regime will last until this year ends...
