"Now, who do you belong to?" People in small towns get that - TopicsExpress

"Now, who do you belong to?" People in small towns get that question a lot. And when you answer it the person you are talking to can usually trace your lineage back 3 or 4 generations and tell some funny story about your grandparent or great aunt/uncle etc. and usually find a family link to them somewhere in there. To some it may be annoying, but I find it comforting to have roots that deep and to know that I "belong" to something that has survived through the generations. The Bridges/Travis/McCoy/Allen families may be a little crazy/dysfunctional/totally insane, but they are who I "belong" to.( My poor kids get to throw in Newman/Kennedy also.)
