Now, without further ado, we present Charlottes Very Big Adventure. This lovely lady spent two mornings at DCACC Facebook HQ (also known as Lauras house) this week. (If you dont know about this new development, scroll to this mornings post for the details). This post is long but its written with potential adopters in mind so I want to give you as much insight as possible. Now for the background and a little context on Miss Char... Youve likely heard us gush about this pretty girl (or read as much on this page) but why is she still with us after a month on the adoption floor if shes so awesome? Well, its possible the sheet draped across the lower part of her kennel might put some people off. Why have it up there? Because Charlotte has a little bit in common with Paulie, whom you read about yesterday afternoon. In the adoption room, there are some dogs who just dont show well. Like Paulie, Charlotte can get a little vocal in her kennel and pace around a lot because, lets face it, being confined in a kennel when you see people walking around and other dogs going for walks when all you want to do is be with everyone...its tough. Some dogs handle that tough stuff with quiet resolve and try to use mental telepathy when people walk by, giving them that special gaze that makes us just want to walk them. Other dogs are more vocal about the whole thing and turn to pacing, begging and pleading. Thats stressful for them, stressful for the other dogs and tends to give potential adopters a picture that might be dead on WRONG. A sheet along the bottom of the kennel decreases the stimulation for the dog and helps keep them nice and chill. The downside is that visitors have to make sure they go up and peek over that sheet to see the surprise inside. Some do but some dont and that is a cryin shame because this girl is a treasure.
