Now you all know the very sad news about Molly, I thought Id just share these lovely photos Carla took today, and say a few words too. Whilst we are obviously devastated at losing MFHs first permanent foster down here (we have had one before, a gorgeous little old Yorkie lady called Gizzy, she was up in Manchester though), I dont want you to be too sad, because Molly literally led a charmed life, one I would wish for all dogs everywhere. She was given a loving home with Sarah and her family as a tiny puppy, and then 12 years later came straight to Carla, whom she adored, and she got to be with her 24/7. She never knew hunger, fear, pain, or any negative emotion whatsoever. Her only sadness in life came at being stopped from eating the cats! She had loads of doggy friends, first her beloved Paxo, then Maisie, and a variety of foster animals at Carlas. Most recently she got to boss young Bonnie about, which she loved doing. She was one super lucky, gorgeous little dog. Id like to give a huge thank you to Castle Vets at Great Bridge, where tonight Nerily and Rhi were just so lovely, and couldnt have been more compassionate. They stayed open late because we didnt want to let Molly suffer another night, even though theyre open tomorrow. They could have said just bring her in then, but they didnt. We know they would have looked after her when we had to leave her, wrapped in her fluffy pink blanket, because they are real animal lovers. If youre in their area, we cant recommend them highly enough. What a pleasure its been having Molly as our MFH grand dame. We knew taking on an oldie that we may not have long with her, but we couldnt resist her anyway - who could? Her real mom Sarah always stayed in touch, Carla kept her up to date with all Mollys goings on, and her funny habits, like begging for England, which hadnt changed with her address. She was just a sweet, uncomplicated little darling, and everyone who met her fell in love, including her groomers who wed also like to thank for their help, Tim at A1 Grooming, and Diamante Dogs. My last thanks must of course go to my dear buddy Carla, who has loved Molly this last year and a bit, treated her various ailments, fed her the nasty raw stuff at the end she loved so much, walked her because she wouldnt go out with anyone else - literally you couldnt get her out the door :-) - and just generally was her mom. Molly now has two hoomums to meet when they get to Rainbow Bridge, but shes a clever girl so Im sure shell work it out :-) It was an awful duty to have to do tonight, but Im proud that we were able to help her on her way with the minimum amount of suffering possible, and held her until her very last breath. This business of rescue sometimes means we have to take these heart breaking decisions along with the fabulous joyful stories of our animals going off to their forever home. Both are a part of rescue though; a part of life, and Molly certainly lived hers to the full. Be as happy at the Bridge as you were your whole life through baby girl, and you wont go far wrong
