Strategic HR generally brings about positive changes in the companies -- people stay, work hard, have a deep sense of belonging, and show sincere loyalty. Strategic HR operates in such a way that its major initiatives and programs have a direct contribution to the attainment of the long-term corporate objectives. Operational HR, while focusing on its internal HR issues, zeroes in on serving on a day-to-day basis the basic needs of its internal clients (i.e., requests for payslips, certificates, contracts, insurance membership, etc.), sans well-defined systems and policies, with no direct impact on the long-term corporate goals.
