Nueva Vizcaya forms poverty alleviation team BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, September 21(PIA) – The provincial government here has formed a poverty alleviation tto improve the poverty situation in the province. Through the convergence of national and local government agencies such as the Provincial Cooperative Affairs Office(PCAO), Provincial Veterinary Office(PVET), Provincial Agriculture Office(OPAG), Environment and Natural Resources Office(ENRO), Depatment of Labor and Employment(DOLE), Technical Eduation and Skills Development Authority(TESDA) and the Department of Trade and Industry(DTI), a package of Liveelihood Assistance Program(LAP) will be given to poor Novo Vizcayanos. Governor Ruth Padilla said the LAP provides entrepreneurship support composed of financial assistance and capability building. Livelihood capability building consists of bookkeeping, leadership and values orientation, entrepreneurial and business management, strategic planning and records management. “These are the requirements before the recipient organizations or individuals will be given livelihood funding assistance. This will be a viable livelihood program considering the convergence of programs of involved agencies,” said Engineer Jonem Gacad, LAP coordinator. She said an initial fund of P19.1 million has been allocated this year for 100 recipient organizations and individuals in the province. Philippine Statistics Authority(PSA) records show that poverty incidence in Nueva Vizcaya increased from P16.2 percent in 200, 15.1 percent in 2009 and 24.3 percent in 2012.# ben moses ebreo/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya
