Num 7:48 On the seventh day Elishama the son of Ammihud, prince of the children of Ephraim, offered: 49 His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: 50 One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: 51 One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: 52 One kid of the goats for a sin offering: 53 And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Elishama the son of Ammihud. 54 On the eighth day offered Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, prince of the children of Manasseh: 55 His offering was one silver charger of the weight of an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: 56 One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: 57 One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: 58 One kid of the goats for a sin offering: 59 And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. 60 On the ninth day Abidan the son of Gideoni, prince of the children of Benjamin, offered: 61 His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: 62 One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: 63 One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: 64 One kid of the goats for a sin offering: 65 And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Abidan the son of Gideoni. 66 On the tenth day Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, prince of the children of Dan, offered: 67 His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: 68 One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: 69 One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: 70 One kid of the goats for a sin offering: 71 And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 72 On the eleventh day Pagiel the son of Ocran, prince of the children of Asher, offered: 73 His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: 74 One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: 75 One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: 76 One kid of the goats for a sin offering: 77 And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Pagiel the son of Ocran. 78 On the twelfth day Ahira the son of Enan, prince of the children of Naphtali, offered: 79 His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: 80 One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: 81 One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: 82 One kid of the goats for a sin offering: 83 And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Ahira the son of Enan. 84 This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold: 85 Each charger of silver weighing an hundred and thirty shekels, each bowl seventy: all the silver vessels weighed two thousand and four hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary: 86 The golden spoons were twelve, full of incense, weighing ten shekels apiece, after the shekel of the sanctuary: all the gold of the spoons was an hundred and twenty shekels. 87 All the oxen for the burnt offering were twelve bullocks, the rams twelve, the lambs of the first year twelve, with their meat offering: and the kids of the goats for sin offering twelve. 88 And all the oxen for the sacrifice of the peace offerings were twenty and four bullocks, the rams sixty, the he goats sixty, the lambs of the first year sixty. This was the dedication of the altar, after that it was anointed. 89 And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him. K so this section continues on from last time saying that on the 7th day Elishama the son of Ammihud, of the tribe of Ephrain showed up with an offering that was the same as the previous 6 captains & had a silver platter that weighed 130 shekels & a silver bowl that weighed 70 shekels, both filled with fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering & a golden spoon that weighed 10 shekels filled with incense, & various animals for burnt, sin & peace offerings. Verse 54 talks about Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, of the tribe of Mannasseh & his offering (which was the same as the previous 7) on the 8th day. Verse 60 says Abidan the son of Gideoni, of the tribe of Benjamin came with his offering on the 9th day. Verse 66 says that Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, of the tribe of Dan came with his offering on the 10th day. Verse 72 says that Pagiel the son of Ocran, of the tribe of Asher came in with his offering on the 11th day. And verse 78 says that Ahira the son of Enan, of the tribe of Naphtali came in with his offering that was the same as the previous 11 on the 12th day. Then we have verse 84 saying in the day - day:3117 יׄום, יׄום [yowm /yome/] n m. From an unused root meaning to be hot; TWOT 852; GK 3427 and 3428; 2274 occurrences; AV translates as “day” 2008 times, “time” 64 times, “chronicles + 1697” 37 times, “daily” 32 times, “ever” 17 times, “year” 14 times, “continually” 10 times, “when” 10 times, “as” 10 times, “while” eight times, “full 8 always” four times, “whole” four times, “alway” four times, and translated miscellaneously 44 times. 1 day, time, year. 1a day (as opposed to night). 1b day (24 hour period). 1b1 as defined by evening and morning in Genesis 1. 1b2 as a division of time. 1b2a a working day, a day’s journey. 1c days, lifetime (pl.). 1d time, period (general). 1e year. 1f temporal references. 1f1 today. 1f2 yesterday. 1f3 tomorrow. - well because we know that this took 12 days to round up all the offerings because it was a special ceremony but we already read that it was anointed before this happened as everything to do with the temple was anointed in verse 1 before the wagons were brought 12 days ago & that day might be the same day spoken of in Ex 40 (which would mean that the whole giving of all those laws in Leviticus could have only taken God one day along with the numbering in the beginning of this book). So in any case thise verse 84 when it says day it means moreso time or perhaps feast day (that took 12 days). So then lets take a look - 12 platters @ 130 shekels ea = 1560 shekels + 12 bowls @ 70 shekels ea = 840 shekels so 1560 + 840 = 2400 just like it says in verse 85. Verse 86 says that 12 spoons of gold @ 10 shekels ea wound up being 120 shekels total. Verses 87-88 give the totals of the animals then in verse 89 it says Moses entered the tabernacle & had a convo with God - so because i am confused about what is what we better look at the timeline. Ex 40:17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. - So that was the day that the temple was anointed first Lev 1:1 And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, So it appears that Leviticus started while Moses was still stuck outside the tabernacle. Num 1:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls; So most likely God told Moses all of Leviticus on the same day as Ex 40:17 & Num 1:1 - the numbering also happened on that same day along with the offering of the wagons then after the numbering is the separation of the lepers & people with issues in chapter 5 - all on the 1st day of the 1st month of the 2nd year of the exodus. Then for the next 11 days we have the procession of offerings (if the 1st happened on that first day) & after that Moses appears to be able to go into the temple & have another conversation with God this time hearing the voice coming from between the 2 angles on the lid of the ark which is called the mercy seat. Interesting as they set up the tabernacle on the first day of the first month & they took 12 days to dedicate it with the ceremony so if they ended on the 12th then the day after next would be passover the 14th; and it is coming up soon in chapter 9. So one thing i can get from this is that when God is talking to you it is possible to gain information a lot quicker than if i am talking to you as it took me ages to go over the book of Leviticus & God did it in just one day. Course when God is talking to you there is a greater chance you want to pay attention for long periods of time too, as He is more interesting than any of us humans to talk to. Course then again when God wants to talk about heavy things that we dont want to hear we may not want to pay Him any attention at all... Well let us pray that if we have a hard time listening to long sermons from men, we dont share that attitude when God is talking to us & listen until He is done speaking. So next time in chapter 8 is the lighting of the candlestick & purifying of the Levites.
