Number 4 of my favourate albums of 2014: Mastodons Once More Around The Sun. Mastodon (or Asstodon, thanks to their hilarious twerk worshipping video) have gone from their progressive roots into something much more direct and accessible, further adding more psychedelic flavours to the mix, and its a really addictive listen, as if the end of the album is saying once more around the sun shall we?. Awesome song after awesome song, literally no filler material here. Very few bands nowadays harness the essence of making each individual album stand out on its own aesthetics listened on its own merits than being compared better or worse than their other albums, but mastodon have pulled it off yet again. My most played album of 2014, this and the next three on the list have been switching places franticly because they are all just fantastic.
