Number crunching at the CRD indicates that, despite less than ideal conditions, bicycle trips across the Johnson St. bridge have grown by over 800% since 1979. Stats are from actual counts vs the suspiciously shaky math advanced by some critics unable to grasp actual traffic demand patterns that are used to plan and design transportation systems. Real research on the relationships between infrastructure improvements and bicycle traffic indicate that significant increases in numbers can be expected where weak links along desirable cycling corridors are reworked to offer improved levels of service. The bridge and some 80 other regional locations are targeted for fall surveys. flickr/photos/luton/9678569436/
