Numerous District 9 personnel are members of local, state and federal incident management teams. These teams are sent to manage major fires across the country. Assistant Chief Doug Bleeker just returned home from the 80k acre Colockum Fire near Wenatchee. Chief Bleeker served as a Division Supervisor, managing up to 75 firefighters assigned to the firefight. Chief Jack Cates just returned from the Westside Complex of fires located on the Colville Indian Reservation. Chief Cates was assigned as the Incident Safety Officer, responsible for health and welfare of all incident personnel. The Fire District enjoys an immense benefit by having so many personnel exposed to incident management on such a large scale. Just one more reason why Fire 9 personnel are the best of the best.
