Nyeri TNA officials. Nyeri County TNA officials led by Thuo Mathenge have issued a statement purporting to sermon Nyeri County MP Hon. Priscilla Nyokabi to show cause why she cannot be disciplined for among other reasons allegedly coaching witnesses in Uhuruto ICC cases. What surprises me the most is not the purported act to sermon but the manner in which the matter handled. First, the officials are using what one would describe as a grapevine to supposedly intimidate one of their own- Nyokabi and somehow gain political mileage with the saga. When DP William Ruto, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero et al were linked to forceful accusation of the disputed 134 Karen land, the anti-corruption body did not sermon them to explain. The body instead ordered CORD Senators Orengo, Muthama, Khwalwale and other who made claims to appear before it and table incriminating evidence before contemplating on the next action. Instead of drawing from this and other similar lessons in the past, the officials have blindly sermoned Nyokabi who happens to be the accused person in this instance instead of inviting those making allegations first to table their evidence. Two, the statement is full of conspicuous inaccuracies having been prepared by known officials who represent President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ruling party at that level. The statement dated November 11, 2014 and copied to the President himself, the party Secretary general Onyango Oloo and another ambiguous recipient by name TNA has twice quoted a Kenyan newspaper by name Star times. I have taken the effort to search for the paper with the details given statement as follows: Pg 2 dated 4/11/2012 and pg 2 dated 4/11/2012. I am surprised too to find out that the statement was actually referring to the Star Newspaper yet it has been authoritatively signed by the party Chairman Thuo Mathenge and counter-signed by other officials who include two Nyeri County Coordinators by name Philip Githua and Daniel Gachara. In my view, the statement should totally be ignored and treated with contempt.
