"O Lord by your hand save me from such men of the world whose reward is in this life....." Psalm 17:14. David prays in the whole of his words in the Psalm. He addresses himself to God in appeal and petition. He was sincere and he did not conceal his feelings in his prayers(PS 17:1-15). False prayers are fruitless(V. 1)He was encouraged by his faith,to expect god to take notice of his prayers. It will be a great comfort to us if we would be unceasing in prayer. We would then be ready ,when trouble comes,to come boldly to the throne of grace. Sincerity does not fear the searching eye of God. David knew that god had tried him, when he had the opportunity again and again to kill Saul. But he had been careful to refrain from all sinful actions and words and he endeavored to keep others from them. His petition was that he might experience the good work of God in him as an evidence of God"s love.(V.6-7). He prayed for God"s grace that he himself might be protected and that all the designs of the enemies,to bring him into sin, might be defeated. He is aware that those who trust in rthe Lord has one friend who can deal with all their many enemies. David lived in Old Testament times. What should the Christian attitude be to his enemies?(Matt. 5:43:48) Lord, keep me close to Thee.......!
