OBINNA NSOFOR AND AHMED MUSA SURE OF EAGLES VICTORY IN CALABAR. Super Eagles duo of Obinna Nsofor and Ahmed Musa have expressed confidence to beat the The Flames of Malawi in Saturday’s World Cup qualifying cracker. The duo, who ply their trade in Russian, told SoccerStar in separate interviews held at Transcorp Metropolitan Hotels in Calabar are upbeat for being parts of the new national squad and promised to do their best to ensure Nigeria’s qualification for Brazil 2014. “If there is any footballer happy to be back in the national team, it is Obinna Nsofor,” he said. He’s been absent for a while and very sad, noting that donning the national colours was every player’s desire. In fact, his absence from the Super Eagles gave him a lot of emotional and psychological worries. “I am very excited to be back. It’s been a while I’ve not played for my country. I thank God that finally I’m back. I am very happy and looking forward to making my contribution as I have always done. If I am picked to play on Saturday, what will be at the back of my mind is the three points to enable us qualify. I am not talking of one point but three points,” he said. “I am fully confident and believe so much in the team that we’re definitely going to win the Malawians. At the back of my mind is the three points. And it is in our power to make sure that we get the three points to ensure qualification for the next phase. “Of course I have so much hunger, so much passion to play for the national team. I am very eager to prove myself again once more in a way that will bring victory to Nigeria. That is the most important thing now. I want to put smiles on the faces of people,’’ he enthused. Nsofor who plays for Locomotive Moscow who are currently placed third on the league table, said he was happy with the challenge he was facing in the Russian Premier League. His aspiration is to become a better player and develop. “Definitely, in the near future, I’m going back to the English Premier League. Also, Ahmed Musa, said: “We have resolved to defeat the Flames of Malawi, advance to the last stage and ultimately qualify for the Brazilian soccer fiesta. As African champions, we cannot afford to let the country down.”
