OBNOXIOUS DEVICE. ******************************* THE other day the supporters of Narendra Modi came out with all sorts of posts and pictures of highly communal nature with the purpose of deviding the society along communal line to get a few votes. I along with my freinds are not Congress people from Gujurat to adopt soft-Hindutwa tactices. We are secular not because of Congress, Communists or Nitish Kumar. We believe and pride in the secular history & heritage of the nation .So we decided to face them up front and counter them with facts. They came up with all sorts of distortive & invented historical theories in response to our arguments. It is plausible that they have been fed with only one source of facts of history. They never cared about comparing their source with other sources. But what is shocking is their tactice of personal attacks and character assasination. One of these ultra-Hindutwa people told me thar Mr.Paresh Das is a Christian missionary and he is engaged in converting Hindus. I did not find anything to be apologetic about in being a Christian or a missionary. My objection is to the lies and personal attack they unlease on the people who hold different view. I had the good fortune of meeting Mr. Das at Cuttack last week.Before meeting him I had the image of him as a Christian missionary in my mind. But what I found was that he is a devout practising Hindu. He is a reputed lawyer known for his erudition and knowledge among the top echelons of the society. He had a fruitful past association with Bijubabu and KCR of Andhra . They called Mr.Santosh Kumar Mohapatra a Congress supporter and his writings are like that of a class-v child. Mr. Mohapatra is an widely acclaimed writer on economics. I have argued with him in the past .But each such time my respect for him has encreased. These ultra-Hindutwa people are clinging on to their hateful theories even after their calumnies are negotiated with irrefutable propositions. They ridicule Gandhiji and praise the first terrorist of free India, Godse. They insult Amarty Sen by posting highly objectionable cut-paste picture of his daughter. I hope, these attempts at throtling the voice of saner & secular people,for a few votes for Modi, will not succeed and they must be dealt with a steel resolve to save our secularism and democracy. Not with soft-Hindutwa.
