OCT 15-This Day in Beatles History: 1960-The Beatles were in Hamburg, Germany as were another British band, Rory Storm & Hurricanes. On this day, the Beatles were asked to help out on a recording for a local musician. As Beatles drummer Pete Best was unavailable that day, the Hurricanes drummer, a fellow named Ringo Starr filled in. So, it was actually on this day way back in 1960 that Ringo actually played with the Beatles for the first time...1966-The album known as Yesterday and Today, an America only release, was spending its 17th week on the album chart. This is the album that originally featured the famous so-called butcher picture on the cover. That sleeve was quickly re-called by Capitol Records and replaced with the more familiar shot of the Beatles sitting on and around an open steamer trunk...1979-John Lennon & Yoko Ono made a cash donation to a campaign by the New York City Police to buy bullet proof vests...
