OCTOBER 19TH, 2014 SUNDAY NIGHT UPDATE Well, the two year commemoration passed quietly last Tuesday. It’s hard to believe it had been two years since that fateful day on October 14th when life as our family knew it would change forever. Two years. What a horrible Sunday night that was; I will never forget it. Of course it started two days earlier, when on Friday , October 12th, after a fairly serious car accident, Anne-Monique was put into a chemically induced coma. The doctor inexplicably didn’t put a sensor in her skull to monitor her inner cranial pressure. Approximately 50 hours later, an unchecked massive bleeding took place inside her skull, and Anne-Monique has basically been pretty close to a vegetable ever since. It has been a private hell for nearly two years. Now we truly, TRULY know what the doctors meant by “prepare for the long haul.” All this time, we have been expecting—like all of you have been as well—that she would bounce back. But her brain is just not responding. Lately, we have been clinging to a hope that if we can get her mobility back —if she could walk—then that would kick start the neurons and synapses that need to increase her cognition level. It is a slim chance, but as long as Anne-Monique stays in Las Vegas, this is the only chance because as of right now, there are no advance brain therapy places locally for injuries as severe as Anne-Monique’s. There is some hope. Earlier this year, a facility opened up in Vegas called Project Walk. Their whole mission is geared around one thing: getting those who can’t walk to regain their mobility. From quadriplegics to stroke victims to TBI patients to every ailment in between, Project Walk gets people walking again. The last 8 weeks AM has been working with therapist John, trained in Washington State. Over the past two years, AM has had a lot of good therapists but none as good as Big John and no facility as good as Project Walk. If Anne-Monique is going to regain her mobility, Big John will make it happen. Enclosed are some videos of her training. The guy is the consummate professional and Project Walk (and Anne-Monique) is lucky to have him. At first glance watching the video, you hear AM screaming and you think she is being tortured ☺, but she is incredibly capable hands. Big John feels he can eventually get her to walk and I don’t doubt him, but as you see, AM is fighting the therapy and not putting her brain power into TELLING her body to work. John says that getting her to walk is a matter of retraining her body. The problem AM is not assisting in this process like she needs to be. She needs your prayers. She needs to make this work. Please, please pray for Anne-Monique that she will have the necessary brainpower to assist in her therapy. She needs all the healing energy she can get. On a personal note, I would like to say thank you one and all for all your kindness, all your love, all your efforts in making this two-year nightmare bearable. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
