OCTOBER 23, 2014 12 God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. 13 And remember, no one who wants to do wrong should ever say, God is tempting me. God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else either. 14 Temptation comes from the lure of our own evil desires. 15 These evil desires lead to evil actions, and evil actions lead to death. (James 1:12-15; NLT) 4 And a tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 So also, the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness that can ruin your whole life. It can turn the entire course of your life into a blazing flame of destruction, for it is set on fire by hell itself. 7 People can tame all kinds of animals and birds and reptiles and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it breaks out into curses against those who have been made in the image of God. (James 3:4-9; NLT) 26 If you claim to be religious but dont control your tongue, you are just fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. (James 1:26; NLT) My folks always taught me to “think twice” before I said something. I bet they think I never listened. I did. It sunk in, after many years, to not speak so quickly when driven to anger. I prefer now, to think for a while before responding to those that have hurt me or hurt my feelings. Some folks just don’t know any better. It really isn’t our problem. It is theirs. God never tempts us into doing wrong. Satan is the great tempter and he drives divisiveness. Pray for your enemies, like it says to do in the Bible. “James compares the damage the tongue can do to a raging fire – the tongue’s wickedness has its source in hell itself. The uncontrolled tongue can do terrible damage. Satan uses the tongue to divide people and pit them against one another. Idle and hateful words are damaging because they spread destruction quickly, and no one can stop the results once they are spoken. We dare not be careless with what we say, thinking we can apologize later, because even if we do, the scars remain. A few words spoken in anger can destroy a relationship that took years to build. Please pray for the family of David Harris. David is a great fellow and has done much good on this Earth. He has gone to be with God, Jesus and a host of other fine folks that have earned their ultimate reward. Many prayers for the family and friends of David Harris. Rest in Peace old friend. Please pray for a little fellow named Holden. He is staying with friend of mine while he undergoes Proton Treatments for a Brain Tumor. He is 8 years old and will have to go through 27 treatments over the next six weeks. Pray for strength for his mother Shanna and his father Luke and pray for successful treatments. Stork Shupe has a host of Doctor appointments coming up. Pray for him and for God to cure all that ails him. Please pray for Jill Earl’s Husband and her Dad. Her husband has had valve replacement surgery at Vanderbilt recently and is home recovering and Jill’s dad is not in good health. Pray for Ty Mullins. He is 16 years old and beginning a battle with cancer. Pray for him and his family as they endure a lengthy hospitalization and treatment cycle. Please say prayers for Cindy Garrett. Pray for Ronnie Simpson (Battling all around illness). Scott Longshore (still in need of many prayers). Ted Larson (may need a Ventricular Assist Device). Please say prayers for all of the families we know that have had loved ones go to Heaven this past week. Pray for all of the Momma’s and Dad’s that have had their children go to Heaven recently. It is a terrible thing to outlive your child. Please pray for all of us that are still here. Continuing prayers for Daryl Parkey (and Lisa). Continue prayers for Betty Hines Crusenberry. We want to keep on asking God for protection and health for those that have received their organ transplants and gone home healthy with their parents or otherwise. We ask for Gods protection for those children that have had surgeries to correct Congenital Heart Defects and have gone home healthy. Pray for the Nurses, Doctors and other Personnel at the hospitals that provide care for these and other critically ill children. Please Dear God comfort all of those that are waiting on organ transplants OF ANY KIND and give them comfort that their blessing will come soon.
