OCTOBER IS CRIME PREVENTION MONTH The St. Petersburg Police Department will host a Community Safety Event at Tyrone Square Mall, 6901 22nd Avenue North, on Tuesday October 1, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to help promote personal safety and crime prevention during October, which is Crime Prevention Month. The event will take place inside Tyrone Square Mall near the entrance to Sears where our Department’s Neighborhood Crime Watch officers will have give aways for kids and McGruff will encourage everyone to “take a bite out of crime.” The event will include displays by St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue, St. Petersburg Police Department’s SWAT team, including their new Bearcat Armored Rescue Vehicle. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter is scheduled to make a surprise visit as well. Other groups will be on hand as well, including the Boy Scouts of America and the Suncoast Safety Council and Florida Career College.
