OCofaigh Hits Out at Parties Betrayal on Fracking Petition Enniskillen anti-fracking candidate Donal OCofaigh has sharply criticised all five Assembly Executive parties over their failure to support a parliamentary petition regarding Arlene Fosters decision to extend drilling company Tamborans licence despite its failure to abide by the terms of agreement. The petition - launched by Steven Agnew MLA - required 30 MLAs signatures by today to refer the decision for review by the Assembly Executive, at which point it could have been overturned. It received only 3. Donal said: - It is shocking that none of the main parties and not a single MLA from Fermanagh & South Tyrone backed this petition. This was a concrete opportunity to deal a blow to fracking in Fermanagh and our local representatives shied away from it. Their refusal to back the petition is yet another betrayal of the wishes of the overwhelming majority in the county, who are absolutely opposed to fracking. Sinn Féin, the UUP, the SDLP and Alliance all claim to oppose fracking. But every time they are given an opportunity to stand up and be counted, they fail the test. Fracking is too serious and imminent a threat to the people of Fermanagh to be left in the hands of these self-serving politicians. People should use their vote on May 22nd to tell the main parties loud and clear that were sick if their empty promises. We want action!
