ODIE - Manchester Terrier Mix - Male - 10 months Oh Yeah! Odie or as his foster family calls him, Odie Da Bodie which transforms too Dodie. If you are one of our loyal Facebook followers, you might remember that Odie came to us the end of March from Wolf Point. He was, at the time, a 5 month old pup whose right foot was broken severely. Our orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Ken Brown, did immediate surgery and Mr. Odie had all kinds of pins & plates. This was not only a tricky surgery but an incredibly hard rehab/foster situation and we give tons of props to our foster mom, Barb. This wonderful woman spent almost 3 months not only trying to keep this young pup quiet (yeah right) but also, Odie had to go in EVERY week for a splint/bandage change. We are incredibly proud of the fact that due to her diligence, Odie has made a COMPLETE RECOVERY! Even Dr. Brown commented on the fact that because of our foster moms excellent care, we basically saved Odies foot/leg. Otherwise, he may have ended up having to have it amputated. As you can see by the photos, Odies right leg is a bit smaller due to lack of use but all pins/plates/screws have been removed and we have been given the go ahead to find a home for this sweet boy. YAY! So as you can imagine, take a young puppy, confine him for months on end and then all of a sudden, he has his freedom. Guess what Odies favorite past time is .. you guessed it ... RUNNING! Running, running, running and oh, did we mention running? Freedom and life in general is the most joyful thing for Odie. He is making up for his lost puppy hood and his zest for life is infectious! If you are looking for a lap dog who is going to spend hours cuddled up in your arms, then perhaps you best look elsewhere. Odie is a shaker and a mover for sure. He will cuddle but it has to be his idea and usually when he is really tired. Odie is great with other dogs and likes to run his canine foster sister ragged. The cats he believes are play toys ... he is not mean to them but cant understand why they wont buy into his playful attitude. Life is a party ... he figures every one should join in! Odie is very smart and knows the commands sit and come and is working on wait. As a side note, the command come is very successful in the fenced yard but foster mom says she would never trust this fast as lightning boy outside the yard without a leash. Odie adores people and he is best described as happy and bubbly. Not a horrible barker but will alarm bark when someone is at the door or outside whom he doesnt recognize. Wonderfully house broke and crate trained (as you can well imagine). Neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped - as we stated above ... for Odie, life is a party and he cannot wait to share his zest for life with a new owner ... happiness covered in fur!
