OECS Annual Labour Survey Of SVG by Picasso John The OECS Commission in collaboration with St. Vincent & The Grenadines’ Central Statistics Office and Department of Labour will pilot the OECS Annual Survey of Labour Turnover, Skills and Vacancies during the fourth quarter of 2014 in St. Vincent & The Grenadines. The survey will collect Labour Market Information (LMI) which will provide estimates of total jobs, separations, hires, net job creation and unfilled vacancies by occupation and industry, as well as other indicators for policymakers from Government, Educational Institutions, Employers and Trade Unions to help in designing, monitoring and evaluation of training, employment services and macro-economic policies and programmes. The OECS Annual Survey of Labour Turnover, Skills and Vacancies adopts a strategy for the estimation of vacancies surveys by visiting a random sample of businesses and interviewing management about the related issues. In so doing, Labour Market Information will be collected from the supply and demand side of the Labour Market via the OECS Labour Force Survey and the OECS Annual Survey of Labour Turnover, Skills and Vacancies. Mr. Sean Mathurin at the OECS Commission says specific Labour Market Information from employers can also provide actual, direct assistance to deal with pressing skills shortages or provide training to each employer who indicates the need for such support. Data collection commenced on November 17th 2014 following the training of Enumerators and Supervisors. Support from the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) is being provided under the project, Economic Integration and Trade of the OECS Region. That project, administered by the OECS Commission, seeks to contribute to the establishment of the OECS Economic Union as a single economic and financial space through the development of a harmonized policy, legislative, regulatory and administrative framework, and the enhancement of the institutional capacity and export competitiveness of OECS economies.
