OF COURSE THE ONLY CORRECT RESPONSE TO A HEALTH ISSUE IS A PRUDENT ONE... but prudence is not the same as hysteria! Last fall four cases of Ebola were reported in the US. Sadly one individual passed away due to exposure to it, but the other 3 survived. In the midst of the on-going story of reports of new patients dealing with Ebola and concerns over who else may have been exposed to it some TV stations essentially changed formats- All Ebola All The Time running sensational stories of impending Ebola sweeping the nation and running away with our women. Keeping score though, the results were Ebola one and we can call the other three defeats for Ebola, but for the sake of trying to merit all the fear-mongering well call them ties. Switch to another current battle- Flu season has shifted to high gear. Currently THIRTY-SIX states report widespread outbreaks of the flu and evidently Mr. Flu hasnt even hit his stride yet. Sadly there have been 15 Flu-related pediatric deaths and in some areas whole school districts have shut down! How has the all-mighty media responded? How have they marshaled their power to inform and protect the public? Listen for yourself...
