OFFICE of the SHERIFF for QUEEN ANNE’S COUNTY PRESS RELEASES If you have information on any of the cases below you are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (410) 758-0770 or email at [email protected] INCIDENT: Burglary DATE / TIME: 10/08/2013 @ 1622 Hours (Reported) LOCATION: 600 Block of Kimberly Way, Stevensville VICTIM: Michael Connelly of Stevensville NARRATIVE: Victim reported that an unknown person had taken his Remington 1187 12 Gauge Shotgun, a Stihl Chainsaw and a PSE Primos Edition Compound Bow with arrows from his garage. The last time the items were seen was during the week of September 30th. The items were valued at $1990. DEPUTY: Deputy Chris Ahearn CASE: 13-30518 ******************************* INCIDENT: Stolen Bicycles DATE / TIME: 10/08/2013 @ 2000 Hours LOCATION: Joyce Lane Stevensville VICTIM: Cheemoandia Blake of Stevensville NARRATIVE: Victim reported two bikes had been stolen from her residence, an blue mountain bike and an orange & silver mountain bike. While on the way to meet with the victim, the deputy saw an orange & silver bike on State Street just a short distance from the victim’s residence. It was also found that the previous shift had recovered an abandoned bike in the 700 block of Old Love Point Road and it had been stored at Sheriff’s Headquarters. Both bikes were identified by the victim as her missing bikes. DEPUTY: Deputy Charles Harris ASSIST: Reserve Deputy Mann CASE: 13-30521 ****************************** INCIDENT: Burglary DATE / TIME: 10/09/2013 @ 1216 Hours (Reported) LOCATION: 1100 Block of Church Hill Road, Centreville VICTIM: Marvin Coppage of Centreville NARRATIVE: Victim advised he heard something outside his residence the evening before but didn’t check it out. On the following day he realized someone had broken into a storage shed and stolen his Craftsman 5HP air compressor and a red 2600lb pressure washer. Items were valued at $725. DEPUTY: Deputy Jennifer Aaron CASE: 13-30599 ******************************* INCIDENT: MDOP / Traffic Accident DATE / TIME: 10/10/2013 @ 1456 Hours LOCATION: 115 Blue Jay Court, Stevensville VICTIM: Cracker Barrel NARRATIVE: Unknown vehicle struck the rear of the building causing a water main to rupture and was leaking a large amount of water into the building. Fire Department personnel on the scene was able to shut the water main off. The damage when it occurred was no observed and the vehicle had left the scene. DEPUTY: Deputy Charles Harris CASE: 13-30720 ****************************** INCIDENT: Theft from Vehicle DATE / TIME: 10/11/2013 @ 0632 Hours LOCATION: Prospect Bay / Greenwood Shoals Grasonville VICTIM: See Narrative NARRATIVE: Deputy dispatched to 300 Block of Prospect Bay Drive west for a theft from a vehicle. Larry J. Hill reported his passenger window to his 1999 Volvo was broken out and $200 cash had been taken from a day planner. Damage to the car was estimated at $200. Another call for a similar incident came from 200 Block of Piney Point Landing. A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado belong to Christopher P. Buckingham had a smashed window but nothing appeared to be missing. Damage was estimated at $375. A third victim called from Greenwood Shoals was received. Euthokia C. Nagel reported her 2013 Audi had a smashed window and a yellow leather wallet containing her driver’s license, credit cards, a safe deposit key and a $1000 Nordstrom’s gift card had been stolen. Damages and loss was estimated at $2200. A 2005 Lexus at the 200 block of Prospect Bay West owned by Thomas K. Burke had also been broken into and a $300 jacket stolen. Damage was estimated at $400. Heather Tranquill on Sycamore Court noticed her window to her vehicle was smashed out and that $200 from her purse had been taken. Two more victims were also located on Greenwood Shoals, Linda Showalter’s 2013 Subaru had a smashed window and $40 taken. James Bowser Sr.’s 2006 GMC truck was also damaged by having the window broken out. Nothing was reported missing from the truck. Each of these vehicles had an estimated $400 damage. DEPUTY: Deputy Charles Harris CASE: 13-30776 ************************************ INCIDENT: Medical Emergency DATE / TIME: 10/12/2013 @ 0320 Hours LOCATION: Grasonville VICTIM: Male (39) of Grasonville NARRATIVE: Deputies responded to a residence in Grasonville for an intoxicated male upset over a divorce and threatening to harm himself, stating he was going to get his ex-spouse’s firearm. Victim was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for assistance. DEPUTY: Dfc. Jason Rickard ASSIST: Cpl. S. Russell / 1st Sgt. M. Meil CASE: 13-30866 ************************************* INCIDENT: Medical Emergency DATE / TIME: 10/12/2013 @ 1230 Hours LOCATION: Queenstown VICTIM: Male (46) of Queenstown NARRATIVE: Deputies responded to a Queenstown residence after a female reported her husband was threatening to harm himself as well as their teen age child. Contact was made with the man who came out of the residence at the deputies request. After interviewing the man, he was transported to Easton Memorial for treatment. The child was not injured. Davidson / MSP CASE: 13-30909 ************************************** INCIDENT: Theft DATE / TIME: 10/12/2013 @ 1258 Hours LOCATION: 200 Kent Landing, Stevensville VICTIM: K-Mart ARREST: Alexander Randall Pinder (19) of Stevensville CHARGE: Theft NARRATIVE: Store Security reported observing a male subject in the show department trying on boots. The male then placed his old shoes in a box and then put the box on the shelve. Wearing the new boots, he then was see placing candy bars in a backpack. He then went to the checkout and purchased a soda and two additional candy bars and left the store where he was stopped by security. When Deputy Harris arrived the man was searched and the four candy bars and boots were recovered. The search also resulted in the seizure of a smoking device with suspected marijuana residue. The man was identified as Alexander Pinder and transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters for processing. He was later released on his own recognizance by a District Court Commissioner. DEPUTY: Deputy Charles Harris CASE: 13-30910 ************************************** INCIDENT: ROBBERY – Strong Arm DATE / TIME: 10/12/2013 @ 2225 Hours LOCATION: 400 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville VICTIM: Sunoco Gas Station ARREST: James Ronald Pumphrey (26) of Stevensville CHARGE: Strong Arm Robbery / Theft / Assault NARRATIVE: Store Employee at Sunoco reported a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a green shirt came into the store and placed a piece of candy on the counter. When the employee went to ring it up, the suspect reached around the counter, took currency from the till and then fled on foot. When the store manager arrived, store security footage was reviewed and manager recognized the suspect advising he was in earlier and had stated he worked at a nearby restaurant. Dfc. Rickard went to the restaurant and located the suspect, now identified as James Pumphrey. When asked if he had all of his belongings, the restaurant manager advised the deputy he had just cleaned the women’s bathroom and left a black hooded sweatshirt and a green shirt there. The clothing was seized and the male returned to the Sunoco Station where the store employee identified Mr. Pumphrey as the robber. Mr. Pumphrey was placed under arrest and told deputies the stolen money was hidden in the restaurant’s walk-in freezer where it was recovered. He has been detained at the QA Detention center on a $50,000 bail. DEPUTY: Deputy Chris Ahearn ASSIST: Dfc. Jason Rickard CASE: 13-30942 ************************************* INCIDENT: Found Property DATE / TIME: 10/14/2013 @ 0939 Hours LOCATION: Cross Island Trail near Old Love Point Park, Stevensville VICTIM: Unknown NARRATIVE: After a report of abandoned bicycles on the trail, Deputy Burns walked until he located two youth size bikes. Both bikes were taken to Sheriff’s Headquarters for storage. If the owners wish to reclaim the bikes, call the Sheriff’s Office Property Room at (410) 758-0770 and provide the bicycle’s description. DEPUTY: Deputy Nathaniel Burns ASSIST: Reserve Deputy Mann CASE: 13-31041 ************************************ INCIDENT: MDOP DATE / TIME: 10/14/2013 @ 1121 Hours LOCATION: 900 Block of Petinot Place, Stevensville VICTIM: Linda M. Wehland of Stevensville NARRATIVE: Victim reported unknown person had scratched her husband’s 2008 Ford Super Duty truck while parked at their residence. The truck was scratched several times, 2-3 foot long marks on both front and rear driver side doors. Damages were estimated to be over $1000.
