OGUN AGRIC GRADUATES UNDERGO TRAINING IN NEW FARMING TECHNOLOGY The Ogun State government has again demonstrated its commitment to exploring opportunities in the agricultural sector to create employment as 40 graduates are being empowered through exposure to Green–House farming technology. The Green House technology is an innovation meant to protect vegetables from adverse climate condition and allow them grow in a controlled environment. It will be recalled that the State Government had recently opened up a 10–hectare land in Kotopo, Odeda Local Government Area of the State for large scale production of high yielding tomatoes, green–pepper and cucumber using the new technology. Addressing the 40 graduates of different disciplines in agriculture, Programmes Manager of the State Agricultural Development Programme (OGADEP), Mr. Ibikunle Onasanya urged them to make judicious use of the opportunity to make their modest contributions to the mission to rebuild. He charged them to pass on knowledge to be gained during the training to other young farmers who will work with them at the project site. Mr. Onasanya assured that in no distant time, more graduates of agriculture and other young farmers would benefit from different empowerment programmes of the government as it continues to invest more in the agricultural sector.
