OGUN URBAN RENEWAL; SYMBOL OF YORUBA RACE- OYO SSG The Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Alhaji Waheed Akin Olajide has ascribed the development in Ogun State since the inception of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration, to the penchants inherent of the Yoruba race for massive economic development of people and the region. Alhaji Olajide who dropped this hint during the State wide tour of on-going infrastructural development in Ogun by Secretaries to State Governments from the Southwest, Delta and Edo States, said Senator Amosun has demonstrated purposeful leadership which has positively impacted on the economic well being of the entire citizenry. He said “today, Ogun people have felt the wind of change which has blown across the length and breadth of the State. However, the style of change adopted by Governor Amosun to achieve these feats is noteworthy and quite commendable as it speaks well of theYoruba as a race that has penchant for development”. In a related development, his counterpart from Ekiti State, Dr. Ganiyu Owolabi expressed astonishment at the massive road construction going on simultaneously at different parts of the State, adding that the wheel of change is moving across the Southwest States in tandem with the urban renewal agenda of the region. “Obviously, Ogun, like other Southwest States, has turned to a construction site of sorts where massive construction has become the norm. Interestingly, this is happening in just one term and I have no doubt that if this government is offered a second opportunity to serve, it will surpass these feats”, Owolabi posited. The scribes however charged the citizens and inhabitants to pay their taxes duly as part of their contribution to the State development, adding that the ongoing developmental projects could not be achieved if the people are not supportive and responsive to their civic responsibilities. Speaking later, the host SSG, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa expressed delight at his guests’ admiration of the Senator Ibikule Amosun’s urban renewal projects currently going on across the State which he said were tailored towards making Ogun a better place in line with the ‘Ogun Standard’ tradition. He said the tour was necessitated as a result of the visiting scribes’ curiosity to see and know the level of projects being carried out by the present administration. The tour took the visitors to Ojere-Kolobo-Panseke road, Ibara-Ita-Eko-Totoro road, Enu-gada-Agooba -Sapon-Ijaye road as well as Sabo-Shagamu intercity road projects
