OH how I love the sound of FUNK with Great expressive vocals and Horns! I have a weak spot for songs that catch you on the downbeat and then just take off and never ever give you a moment to breath. They are songs that are just like a relentless train that keeps moving and is harder to stop every second that it passes you by. This was FUNK and sophistication with a rock overtone in the wailing heavy distorted guitars in the background. This was like a story that got better and better as the track built and you were constantly taken off guard when each instrument had its moment in the spotlight and just pushed and pulled you all over the place and filled the dance floors of every black club and dance club across the country. This band was great and I missed the wonderful unique blend of their music as they tool you to places in R&B not seen since the Isley Brothers and Whose that Lady. With a feel that might have inspired Fantastic Voyage that came out some 3 years latter this band was great and in my opinion one of the very best and most unique and innovative bands and sounds of the era. Here to rock your world and FUNK YOU UP with their Number One R&B song in 1977 is Slave and Slide!
