OJOO HIGH SCHOOL, ALAKA IBADAN OLD STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON SUNDAY 28TH DECEMBER 2014 AT THE SCHOOL PREMISES, ALAKA –OJOO IBADAN. PRESIDENT: ALIMI ABDULLAHI OPENING PRAYER The meeting commence at 3:22pm with an opening prayer said by Mr. Adedeji Oluwatobi .E (2004 set). This was closely followed by School anthem jointly sung by all members and introduction of member follows. ATTENDANCE A total number of forty one members attended the meeting as contained in the att0endance sheet. INTRODUNCTION: Welcoming of the new members Mr. Alimi Abdullahi (2004 set) welcomes all members of Old Students of Ojoo High School to the meeting and tenders his apologies for starting the meeting late, also encourages all members to be patriotic to the association. READING AND ADOPTION OF LAST MUNUTES OF THE MEETING The last minutes of the meeting was read by the general secretary Mr. Oladeji Kamorudeen (2002 Set), the motion of adoption was moved by Mr. Alimi Abdullahi (2004 set) and seconded by Population of Old Students BUSINESS OF THE DAY PURPOSE OF THIS MEETING The president, Mr. Alimi Abdullahi (2004 Set) highlighted the purpose of the Ojoo High School Old Students Association by fostering unity and oneness among membership of the association and uplifting the school to greater height. He further explain that Ojoo High School will be 35th year of establishment by 26th September, 2015 which the Old Students will organize a public lecturer to celebrate it. He also listed some agenda to be discussed 1. Development of the School 2. Population of Old Students 3. Education, Career Opportunities 4. Securing of good job POPULATION OF OLD STUDENTS Mr. David Akande Oluwafemi (2009 set) suggested that to have more members, we need to get the contact of current SSS 3 Students through the Principal- Pastor Akin, as soon as the current SS 3 pass out, they will be admitted to the alumin association from this step our population will increase. He also used the medium tom inform members who were seeking admission into university and colleges of Education to write UTME and mentioned some institution that did not mandate Post UTME examination, once they score 180 above like Tai Solarin and Ondo State University. He added that we should try to get chairs and tables for the school during the 35th anniversary of the school. Mr. Lawal Lukman A. (2014 set) explained why people did not want to show up for the meeting because Ojoo High School SSCE/WAEC result was not the best and urged the leadership team of this association to work towards the success of good result for the presents Students. Mr. Oladeji Kamorudeen (2002 Set) reacted that we should not label the School. The school did not have problem but the Students that did not read again. Mr. Bello Maruff (1996 set) admonished the young ones to take education seriously. He also buttressed his point of Mr. Oladeji Kamorudeen (2002 Set) that Students should cultivate the habit of reading. Mr. Adedeji Oluwatobiloba .E (2004 set) tasked the organizer of the meeting to look into the mass failure of the Students in the School. The problems were not from the Students but teachers and government. He also said we should communicate with the school management to curb the mass failure of the students. Mr. Ogunfoworo Natheniel Oluwadara (2009 Sets) suggested that we should produce a banner to notify people that old students association meeting has commences. Mr. David Akande Oluwafemi (2009 set) suggested that we need to move out from the school if we want to have sound education for the presents Students by communicating with Ministry of Education and others Education officer. He cited that the building of the School that were not maintained. He made mention of Science laboratory and library that were not well equipped with necessary materials. Miss Oluwatoyin Ogunniyi (2009 set) asked that, was there any monthly dues for the association? She also suggested we should not use our facebook for charting nor greeting. Response from Mr. Oladeji kamorudden (2002 set) to the question raised by Miss Oluwatoyin Ogunniyi (2009 set) that there is no any payment for dues now and we should continue to inform other members to attend the Old Students Association meeting. Mr. Adigun Olawale Abiodun (1989 Set) admonished young members who were still in School to be serious with their education. He also promised that the association would liaise with the School principal to commence free extra mural classes for the current SS 2 and SS 3 Students of the School to reduce the mass failure of the Students with the payment of the recruited teacher salary by the association. He also further explained that the association is not for those that further their education to higher institution alone but for the apprentice members, traders and Okada riders as well. Mr. Oladeji kamorudden (2002 set) appreciated the effort of Mr. Adigun Olawale Abiodun (1989 Set) for the association since 2012 that the meeting has started. Mr. Adigun Olawale Abiodun (1989 Set) also pointed out why Students failed because some Students admitted to Ojoo High School are those that got below 30% marks in their Common Entrance Examination while other School admitted with 50% above, likewise some teachers are not competent and he promised to see the School principal has the school resume by January 2015. Next meeting of this association The association next meeting would be holding quarterly and it would hold as follows: 29th March 2015, 28th June 2015, 29th September 2015 and 27th December 2015 by 2:30pm prompt. ANY OTHER BUNISESS Mr. Adigun Olawale Abiodun (1989 Set) also urged members to have sense of commitment and belonging in all the association activities. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Ogunfoworo Natheniel Oluwadara (2009 Sets) moved the motion for adjournment of the meeting and Seconded by Miss Oluwatoyin Ogunniyi (2009 set). CLOSING PRAYER The meeting was adjourned with closing prayer from Miss.
