OK - THE NEWS ABOUT ME - I HAVE REJECTION AGAIN. These are scary words to hear if you have a transplant of any organ, and they are certainly scary for any loved ones and friends who care about you. TAKE HEART!! - this is mild rejection and I am not a mild man! I started my first infusion of steroids (750 mg) today, I will get two more (Sat and Sun mornings) and then taper off of the steroids via oral steroids over the following 12 days. This should handle it all. These treatments dont hurt but they do monkey with your energy, appetite, sleep, and most seriously... MOODS!! I go from incredible hulk (you wont like me when Im angry) to crying about how Killer whales are kept in captivity. Seriously!! The tough part will be liver biopsy on Monday morning to see if my immune system is doing the same thing to my liver that it is doing to my lungs. I have to refuse or take very little anasthetics so I can function later during the day for an important class. I have a big mid-term on Tuesday, another one on Thursday, and then a project due on Friday. So I will try to take pictures or video during the procedure if the docs let me. I have done this procedure before and they have to go in through my jugular and down through that until they find the hepatic vein and then over into my liver. It kinda sucks but cool to watch under the flouroscopy (video x-ray) - I was awake the other times (Yes it . Hopefully they will let me video it to show you. Until then, we shall see. There is nothing we cannot overcome with the proper perspective on the situation we enter, the passion for a greater reason to get through it, and the perseverance to take it one bite at a time - like eating an elephant. Until then this is a little clip to entice you about my daily regimen of dealing with medications and injections.
