OK - so I was given the number 8 - here are 8 things you may not know about me (or care!) 1. My Mother used to make me wear one of those harness with leashes attached when I was a toddler (plus). Mainly because when I was 3 years old, I left my home and walked a mile to the 7-Eleven and stole a Big Buddy bubble gum and then walked back home. No one stole me or helped me. My father took me back to the store and the cashier said yeah, I saw her come in and take it and leave. 2. My first experience with horseback riding was when I was three. Our family had gone to a rental stable while on vacation. My brothers and parents took off for a trail ride and I was left with the old man running the stable. He put me up on a mule and lead me back and forth for an hour until my family returned. I think my parents have regretted that since I became a horse crazy girl. 3. At 14, I obtained my workers permit and worked at the Bowie Racetrack during the summers and sometimes before school. I learned much of how to care about horses from taking care of Thoroughbreds on the track. It was a great place to learn about leg and hoof anatomy, stride, etc. 4. When I met my husband, he was a dairy farmer. I suggested he go to horse shoeing school - he has been shoeing horses for over 25 years now. Sorry Matt! 5. Maci, my coated GSD and I worked the Natalie Holloway case (Maci left us in 2012). 6. On my small farm in PA, I raise Katahdin sheep for meat - I have 8 ewes. 7. Baking is one of my favorite hobbies - love to make cookies and try new recipes. 8. I have always brought home abandoned or stray animals (much to my parents and husbands dismay). One year while out trail riding during winter, I found 6 abandoned newborn piglets. A sow had gotten loose from a neighboring farm and had her litter and then left them. They were practically frozen when I found them. With a piglet in each pocket of my winter coat, I rode back home. I took them to the vet who didnt think they would survive. But they all did survive. We bottled fed them until they were old enough to eat on their own. They were so much fun!
