OK I am all for raising minimum wage to $10.10/hr.. Wait a minute though! $10.10? How did they come up with that figure? Is it based on the economical based pay per resident/county/city/state or even federal? For example: $10.10/hr in Northern Virginia is still below poverty line if u have a family of say husband, wife and a seed. Why dont they raise minimum wage based on Consumer Price Index per each State or City. Say you work 2080hrs per year x $10.10 = $21,008 excluding taxes. Assuming u pay $10,000 a yr in rent, how much do u really got left? These are estimates without the taxes. On the contrary, I believe increasing minimum wage will decrease skills required to build a better community if calculated measures are not put in place. I believe more skilled workers will find easy jobs to easy bucks but really though, how much is $21,000 before taxes really worth?
