OK. Im curious (this is NOT intended to start any arguments, just tickle my curiosity). If the rest of the Ham World is more than able to work DXCC, ragchew and every other ham activity using less than 500W PEP (most much less), why do we, in The States, feel we need/must have a kilowatt or more to do the same thing?? On 10M alone I have confirmed (QSL Cards in my files) 80 countries and 49 States (darn Idaho) running less than 10W into an A-99 that was mounted almost at ground level and tilted about 10 degrees from vertical (mounted on an old Dish bracket). This on 10M, running 25W PEP mobile I have 20 or so states (except Idaho -any one on 10M there??) and 3 or 4 countries - all worked traveling too and form work.. Over to you to educate on this need for more power..
