OK Internets, time for some love to get showered on one of our own who needs us. Right now. Our good friend, and fellow cyclocrosser, is in the process of kicking cancers ass. Hes a crosser, so this is a barrier that hell be leaping over. He just needs a TON of good mojo right now. Now some background from some dear friends who made this tribute video to Dale, from all his friends, old a new, junior and master and pro. Were all behind you Dale Riley... On September 14, 2014 a couple guys from the Colorado cyclocross scene got together at the Boulder Cup cyclocross race with a camera and an idea. What followed showed how caring, compassionate, and supportive the cyclocross community is. Below, you will find a link to a short video. This film is for Dale Riley. Dale is like many of us…he works a corporate job, has a beautiful wife and enjoys an active Colorado lifestyle. He likes backcountry skiing, camping, and riding bikes. He loves cyclocross. Dale hasnt been able to do what he loves for the past couple years because he’s been battling cancer. He’s not able to duke it out on the cross course with his friends because he’s fighting a more serious foe in real life. Dale was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2008 which led to the discovery of hairy cell leukemia in the same year. He had shingles after completion of chemo as his auto immune system was completely compromised. Early last year he underwent another treatment for hairy cell leukemia after 5 years of remission. Today, Dale is looking at 4 weeks of recovery and 6 weeks of radiation after the removal of a sarcoma on his shin. This film brings all the camaraderie and love from the cross community to Dale as he recovers and looks forward to getting back on the bike. Pro cyclocrossers, local weekend warriors, junior racers, race announcers, and the regular crew of Colorado CX superfans all make this video special.
