OK. Ive been seeing a lot of posts about weight lately and I just want to share a story with you. Two summers ago my friend Megan Marden and I decided that we were going to try jogging and we were very uncomfortable with this because we were both chubby and both of us have at least a D cup, but we wanted to get more fit so we risked the public humiliation a low income neighborhood was bound to offer for such an endeavor. The first night we went out we walked for a block, then jogged for a block then immediately ran into a pack of rowdy teenagers, we both cussed under our breath and tried to hold out heads up as we walked toward what was surely going to be a thorough bullying. As we walked by, the kids did talk to us, they said I should be doing that, You go! and You two are doing a great job. No one laughed, no one said a negative word and all we got was support. As the summer went on and we continued our exercise plan, we got some heckles (usually about the aforementioned D-cup issue) but overwhelmingly we got praise and cheering for our efforts. Those of you who are worried about what other people think of you at the gym or at the park or walking around your neighborhood, just remember that very few people are completely happy with their bodies and focus on the unexpected support you will receive rather than the occasional dipshit who feels better about themselves by commenting on what is jiggling where. Be proud of you efforts and remember that you are the one out there doing something about your health, not the people sitting down watching you.
