OK Jax peeps. I was at the Walmart in Middleburg and there was two semi-military dressed individuals collecting money for the Veterans Service Organization, Post 137 of Jacksonville. I thought it might be the same chucklehead org as the one in Tampa that has its members collect donations wearing ACUs. In speakingwith thegirl sittingatthe table, turns out itsher granddads organization. I reviewed their state of Florida license and all that appeared legit...I asked her what percentage of the donations actually went to veterans needs and all she could tell me is 30% goes to those who work the table...I asked if she was a veteran, she was not. Shameful. I spoke to the Asst manager and advised her that they should really screen the orgs seeking donations better...I was assured they would. Folks dont be fooled by these scamsters...donate to real veterans organizations, and make sure that a large portion actually goes to benefit veterans.
