OK. Lets take a look at the real problem in North Dakota: 46.64% Voter Turnout. Now, I am not sure of what NDs voting history is for a non-presidential year, but come on - 46.64%?? Pathetic. You can vote early, you can vote by absentee ballot, you can vote all day long the day of... what gives? We are electing people to run our state for us, to make major decisions, and over HALF of our population doesnt seem to care how they are governed. We can always complain about our leaders in power, but do you really have a right if you didnt vote? No. Indifference and inaction are unacceptable. No matter how you try to excuse yourself with my vote really doesnt matter, it is just a piss poor excuse to try to make yourself feel better. But in reality, you are the reason for poor leadership. Why? Because when a candidate knows his faithfuls will consistently turnout to re-elect him/her, then the pressure to perform is lifted. When he/she is only answering to 46.64% of the population, why should they care about the other 64% who dont care to do anything about it (aka Vote)? That elected official can lower their work performance because they arent worried about anyone but that 46.64% voters; which in reality really only makes them concerned with the 25% of voters - the margin they need to be re-elected. Is it OK for an elected official to only care about pleasing 25% of his/her constituents? This country was founded to give citizens a voice to be heard and today people are pissing it down the drain. We didnt have the right to vote originally when we came to America - we were given orders and orders we accepted. Is that what we really want? To become mindless workers without a voice again? Step it up people! GO VOTE NEXT TIME (and make sure you are educated on the issues you are voting on). Here is the breakdown of voting percentages by our MAJOR population centers: Burleigh County (Bismarck, Capital city) - 54.8% Cass County (Fargo) - 44.35% Grand Forks County - 38.33% (among the BOTTOM; only five other counties had lower turnout) Morton County (Mandan) - 53.07% Ward County (Minot) - 38.86% (at least we had a better turnout than Grand Forks) Williams County (Williston) - 34.69% (really not surprising that transients dont want to vote)
