OK, SO YALL REMEMBER THIS VIDEO? SO, I EMAILED CLARKSVILLE ISD AND RECIEVED THIS RESPONSE: Official Response to Recent Transportation Concern: On September 30, 2014, the Clarksville Independent School District received notification that a video allegedly depicting the unsafe operation of a school bus had been posted to Facebook by a community member. The District reviewed the video and immediately initiated a full investigation of the matter. It was also determined that placing the driver on administrative leave pending the investigation would be in the best interest of the District, which is standard policy any time a concern involves the safety of District students, employees and/or community members. The scope of the investigation included a thorough review of the driver’s records, interviews with the driver and the individual who created the video, collaboration with the County Commissioner and County Judge regarding the actual speed limits for the road on which the bus was traveling, and an onsite visit to gather additional information about the incident portrayed in the video. As a result of this investigation, the District has determined that there is no evidence to support any allegation of wrongdoing on the part of the bus driver. The “15 MPH” sign visible in the video is not a legally posted speed limit. The conspicuous placement of the sign, in addition to the manner in which the bus is framed in the video, and the dust from the gravel road contributed to a misleading perception of speed. The investigation corroborated the driver’s assertion that he was in full control of the vehicle and that the bus was actually traveling at a speed less than 30 miles per hour, well within the legal speed limit for the road. The safety of every Clarksville ISD student will always be the District’s very highest priority. The District appreciates the concerns that have been expressed regarding this matter. We hope that our swift and thorough attention to those concerns will be accepted as evidence of our continued dedication to fulfill our responsibilities to our students, employees and members of the community.
